Terms of use

These terms cover your use of Build Your Bid at buildyourbid.ca (“the service”), operated by Trade To Business in Ottawa, Ontario (“we”, “us”). By using the service you agree to them. Questions go to hello@buildyourbid.ca.

1. The beta

Build Your Bid is in beta. Access is by invitation. Features can change, move or stop, and the service may be unavailable at times. During the beta the service is free.

2. Your account

You don't need an account to use the calculators; they run in your browser. If you create one, keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us at hello@buildyourbid.ca if you think someone else has used them. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

3. Your data

What you enter — your rate card, bids and job history — is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the service for you. We don't sell it. How we handle it is set out in the privacy policy.

4. The figures are a tool, not advice

The service calculates from the numbers you enter and from published 2026 rates for payroll contributions, workers' compensation, vacation pay, public holidays and sales tax in each province. We work to keep those rates correct, but we don't guarantee that they are complete, current or right for your business. Nothing in the service is accounting, tax or legal advice. Confirm the figures with your accountant. The prices you quote, and the taxes and remittances you owe, are your decisions and your responsibility.

5. Fair use

Don't use the service to break the law, to get at other people's data, to overload or attack it, or to copy it into a competing product. We may suspend access that does.

6. Paid plans and the founding list

Paid plans are not open yet, and nothing is charged. When they open, the price and terms will be shown to you before you are charged anything. Joining the founding list records the date you joined; founding members will be offered 40% off their first year of a paid plan when paid plans open.

7. No warranty

The service is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

8. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profit on a job priced with the service, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Ending

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us at hello@buildyourbid.ca to delete your account and its data. We may end the beta, or your access, with notice where we reasonably can.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

11. Changes

If we change these terms we'll post the new version here with a new date, and tell account holders by email about anything significant.
